Coop
For this ‘one of a kind’ project, Sigma M&E were tasked with replacing the existing 500kVA standby generator that had provided essential back-up power to the site. This legacy generator during its life has had many issues, both with engine faults and age. The fuel tank system was also considered ‘non-compliant’ in its construction and earmarked for replacement.

New for Old
Specifying a solution
Essential to the successful delivery of this project was the selection and installation of an efficient generator and fuel tank complete with fuel polishing and upgrade to the existing controls.
The chosen generator was a new Genesal energy 715kva with Comap Group controllers, new attenuation, silencers, dampers, exhausts, 300L bunded fuel tank, 1no load bank connection unit and mains control panel with G99 controls
This new tanker fill point incorporates a ‘Smart Type’ offset fill point system, including, a digital gauge, an overfill prevention valve, high and low sensors within the tank, fuel polisher and tank alarm control unit that is fully MCDP compliant in terms of emissions.
The new solution was complete with;
- Attenuation – to achieve sound levels as or better than existing site conditions.
- Controls for air intake and evacuation louvers
- Integral resilient anti-vibration mounts
- Links for the monitoring and report on its status.
- Connections to a new / integral exhaust system
- Dual Electric starting system
- Battery charging for starting system
- Generator domestic requirement wiring & provisions
