Understanding GNFR; As easy as
1) GNFR defined
In what are challenging times, retailers are under more pressure to reduce costs and unlock the hidden value in their operational supply chain. One area that is often overlooked is Goods Not For Resale or GNFR choosing the focus instead on higher profile areas of the business.
Retailers will often have advanced procurement processes which can be more easily applied to consumables in a similar way to produce and merchandise.
The two elements of GNFR that are relevant to new store projects are services and equipment and for various reasons, these pose an altogether greater challenge for retailers.
2) Unlocking the Value in GNFR
Typically, GNFR makes up 25% of a retailers operating costs, however this spend is often neglected as is rarely given the level of priority befitting its significance on the balance sheet. A blend of partially interested stakeholders, a focus on a core product range for customers and a level of uncertainly of how to tackle what can be a complex supply chain network means that GNFR is often seen as hard to tackle.
GNFR and the wider supply chain therefore represents a major source of untapped savings, giving retailers the power to unlock additional savings to improve their bottom-line performance. This means that potentially substantial cost savings are being missed that impact 100% on the bottom line of a retailer’s P&L
3) Partnering with the GNFR experts
Tapping into the extensive expertise, scale and industry know-how of a category-specific GNFR consolidation provider like Sigma could be the simple answer to a complex question.
With Sigma you can take advantage of greater controls, increased accountability and better visibility of spend all while experiencing consistency in service, performance and reliability.
We also work with your merchandising teams, we plan extensively to minimise waste, optimise availability and ultimately, drive down cost and improve productivity.
